Newtown School Holiday Schedule
School holidays are coming up this week! This means that there will be no classes at Newtown from the 27th Sep - 6th Oct. The first class of term will be on the 27th of October. Newtown students are encouraged to come to Petersham classes during that time.
Petersham classes are as usual - Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri - 5:45pm - 6:45pm
We had a grading filled weekend recently, and a whole bunch of new colours are floating around int he dojo. Here are the results:
Shihan Shah at the BKK Camp
The camp was awesome. In addtition to all the other people attending, kids to adults, from white belt to 6th dan, 29 people were being graded for black belts with grades from Shodan to Sandan, including one 60 yr old for shodan (who passed), and another 6 or so who were grading for first kyu. Next year, I'd like for a team of us to go to the camp together!
The main thing that I took away from the camp - apart from the experience of it all - was that the best basic training we can do is do to everything in 10th kyu combination in all possible variations as many times as can be squeezed into the time available. And then do it all again with the remaining kyu combinations! 99% effort, 1% talent is all that's needed to succeed.
Fighting Fit Seminar Series
Sunday 22nd October
This one is locked in now. You all know what this is about, and we you should all take advantage of it. Sensei Mark comes down from Brisbane just for us, and we can all benefit from his experience. Book soon! Flyer attached if you want a bit more information.
Sunday 5th November
This tournament is a week before our tournament, and we will not be having any full contact at ours this year, so I recommend that you enter this event instead if you're interested in full contact.. Entry deadline is Fri 13th of October. If you're interested, the entry form with details is attached. If you're going - submit the entry form ASAP and let me have a copy so we can get your ready.
There is also a kata division, but it will be judged according to Shinkyokushin rules, and you may or may not do well - but it's always worth a try since it won't hurt.
14th IFKKA National Championships
Sunday 12th November
Keep the date free. We're currentlly looking for an alternate venue, and we'll let you know as soon as possible.
EoY Party and dojo awards
Sat 25th November
This will be in the same place as last year - with all the fun that went with it. The food was good, the games were good, and of course, the company was good too! Details to come soon!
Fri 19th – Sun 21st January
The dates for the 2018 Camp have been confirmed! We've also managed to confirm that once more, Shihan David (now 7th Dan) will be attending again. Make sure you book this in your calendar.

Also, this time, we're inviting any and all aspiring designers, to design the t-shirt for thiscamp. It's a competition. The winner will get a free t-shirt and one day free at the camp!. Non-training family members can try too, and they can either START training, or a training family member will get the prize instead. Let me know, and I'll put you on the list!
